Hello,

Well according to my experiences I've improved my english by reading story books both fictional and non-fictional and also by interacting with my native speaker friends who keep correcting me. I've got one friend who is American/Canadian and the other one is Briton. And also I keep visiting english forums and blogs.

But I'd rahter say it depends on the person learning the language in the end whichever method he/she chooses is best for him/her. For some people it's books, for some cds-dvds-movies-news, for some interaction, and for others taking english courses. But theres always one thing, the person who wants to accomplish whatever he/she wants should see to it that they achieve their goals in the end, whatever their method of achieving it may be.

Effective way to study English. Wed Nov 19, 2008 5:40 am  Effective way to study English.

Hello dear Mister Torsten !
You asked me about my opinion how to learn English effectively.
1 Your english-test course on line is very importent ,useful and interesting for me .
2 The best way of learning English is trying to use all abilities:reading ,writing ,listening and speach. The language will open for us in all aspects, but different ways. It is not possible to know language only by reading or writing.
3 let's learn with pleasure and interest and communication will help us.
Thank you.

Hi anyone,

My way of learning a new language is to convince myself that I like the language and I would ask myself what motivates me to learn that particular language. What will be the realistic ways to learn? I will assess my own learning styles and skill levels. I am more comfortable to learn a new thing by visual and audio demonstrations. I remembered one time, I was invited to help some Chinese Adults who were in ESL class to learn to sing a simple song, "I like to eat apples and bananas." Why? I didn't understand in the beginning of the class. I was asked to help out. At the end, I realized that the ESL teacher wanted the students to learn English through singing, mimicing the lyrics, and make it fun experiences for the students to learn. I personally enjoy learning English through singing karaoke, listening to radio (especially a take show) which provides facts, debates, and daily updated news.

I think the best ways to learn a new language, it is to expose yourself to the language as much as you can. It is almost like a child learning new things in his preschool. He has lots of visual aides, actively in participating in social interaction, lots of singing alphabets, words, numbers and phrases he might not understand, but long enough, he will be ingrained in his head and figure it out on his ways of learning through interacting and exploring.
