hi Jyo
we can't say " how does compasses work?" cause compasses is plural form like pants, scissors, shoes, sneakers,... so you must say " how do compasses work?"

Question words / Open questions (Unit 10) Mon Nov 10, 2008 1:14 am  Question words / Open questions (Unit 10)

Hi Ardiana

The following are used as object pronouns:

me, you, her, him, it, us, them

The words "you" and "it" can also be used as the subject of a sentence or clause.

Very basically, you can use an object pronoun as the direct object or as the indirect object of a verb. Object pronouns are also used as the object of a preposition.

There is a test on using object pronouns here:
http://www.english-test.net/esl/learn/english/grammar/ei038/esl-test.php

Further examples (the object pronouns are in boldface type):

- Can you tell me about object pronouns?
- Could you give me an example?
- I saw you, but you didn't see me.
- John sent her a dozen red roses.
- He gave it to me.
- He is trying to mislead you.
- We asked him to give us a presentation about his research.
- We have done a lot of work for them.

.
PS

USING ALL CAPITAL LETTERS LIKE THIS IS KNOWN AS "SHOUTING".
It would be better to type your posts the way this sentence is typed.
