Question words / Open questions (Unit 10) Sun Sep 07, 2008 15:40 pm  Question words / Open questions (Unit 10)

I received lesson 10 and I want to post some questions.
Here they are.

How could you do this to me?
Who is this person on the photo?
Where is the bathroom?
Which is your favorite book?
Why are you so happy?
What had happened during my absence?
Who have won the Formula 1 today?
What you think about the lesson?
Was it easy or not?

I have some questions which I would like to answer them.

I've just read a lesson about indirect questions. I can't figure out when to put the question mark at the end of that kind of questions and when to avoid them.
How can i notice when the intonation is falling and when is it rising?

I want to write two examples from my book.

1) falling intonation:
Is a lovely day, isn't it?

2) rising intonation :
You haven't lost your keys, have you?

It is about which is more important part of the sentence?
Or which is the idea if intonation in the examples?

Hy!

Why are called the questions open and closed questions?
Closed when you expect a short yes/no answer.
Open are when you would like to receive some explications.

This is what i understood from the lesson. Am I right?

Hy Karina!

I'm not sure 100% if is it correct........but this is how I would have written your message:

Thank you so much for your excellent job. I've studied a lot of things from these lessons and I'm impatiently waiting the new ones.
I have a question related to the writing skill in English. How could I improve my writing skill? Should I start with Basic English Grammar? I'm very interested in what you propose me.

One more thing......

You say INTERESTING when you talk about things.
Example:
An interesting idea, interesting news etc.

You say INTERESTED when you want to know more about something.
Example:
I'm interested in History.
I'm interested in Classic Musiic.

I hope this helps you.

I also suggest you to start with Basic Grammar and if you have time read a lot of texts. Because if you read you can memorize some syntaxes which will help you to improve your writing skills as well.
Use an automatic spell checker.
